How FormReader Works
Image Input and Pre-Processing
Images can be input in ABBYY FormReader by two ways:
- scanning
- opening from a file
ABBYY FormReader supports both TWAIN and ISIS industry standard scanning interface that allows users to work with a wide range of enterprise-level scanners. For more information see the list of scanners.
Besides, using the native driver's dialog boxes FormReader provides its own user interface for scanning operations. The following scanning settings are supported:
- paper size and orientation
- ADF support
- resolution
- brightness
- image compression
- duplex mode
- rotation
Scanning may be accompanied by automatic image pre-processing:
- despeckling images
- converting color and grey images to black-and-white
Scanning may be replaced by opening images from a folder in any of the following popular formats: PDF, TIFF, JPG, PCX, DCX, PNG, and BMP.
