Accompanying Technical Documentation

  • The Developer's Help system in compiled HTML format is available in English. It contains a detailed description of the API and general information about licensing and activation.
  • The code samples which are provided with FineReader Engine 7.1 development toolkit will help developers understand how to use the API of FineReader Engine in typical scenarios. A developer may copy, modify or use them to create his own software program based on the FineReader Engine API.
  • The Administrator's Guide contains information on how to install FineReader Engine in the customer's LAN and how to manage licenses by using Network License Manager.

  • Microsoft® Windows® 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT® 4.0 (SP6 or later), Windows Me/98 (to work with localized interface, corresponding language support is required).
  • 64 MB RAM for Windows 2003/XP/2000/NT 4.0; 32 MB RAM for Windows Me/98. An additional 16 MB of RAM is required for each additional processor in a multi-processor system.
  • 90 MB hard-disk space for minimal runtime installation, 70 MB hard-disk space for program operation, 300 MB hard-disk for full developer installation.
  • 100% TWAIN-compatible scanner, digital camera, or fax modem.
  • Video card and monitor (min. resolution 800?600).

System requirements for installing a runtime license fall into server requirements and workstation requirements:

Server Requirements
  • PC with Intel® Pentium®/Celeron®/Xeon™, AMD K6/Athlon™/Duron™ or compatible processor 200 MHz or higher.
  • Operating system:
    • For the software protection key: Microsoft Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000, Windows NT 4.0 with SP6 or later, Windows Me/98.
    • For the hardware protection key: Microsoft Windows 2003, Windows XP, Windows 2000.
  • 100 MB for minimal installation and 310 MB of free hard disk space for full program installation.
  • Read permissions for the administrative installation folder for all ABBYY FineReader Engine 7.1 users.
  • Write permissions for the License Manager subfolder for all ABBYY FineReader Engine 7.1 users.
  • Server should provide the number of connections no less that the number of ABBYY FineReader Engine 7.1 users. For example, Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional provides no more than 10 simultaneous connections and using this server you can deploy the program on no more that 10 workstations.

Minimum requirements for workstations that allow you to install and use ABBYY FineReader Engine 7.1 are as follows:
